STUDENT STORY

From Burnout to Breakthrough

How Marielly turned exhaustion into empowerment—and found her future in tech.

Meet Marielly Blank

Biomedicine grad. Pandemic survivor. Quietly unstoppable.
Originally from Brazil, Marielly Blank moved to Portugal after two brutal years on the frontlines of COVID-19. A public health worker with a full scholarship medical degree, she burned out trying to hold up a system that was breaking. She didn’t just change countries—she changed direction. And she’s never looked back.

“Someone who has never had an opportunity in the technological market... I imagine myself in the near future working directly with the tools... It’s just a matter of putting it into practice and getting in.”

The Challenge

When Marielly landed in Portugal, she was running on empty. No job. No clear plan. Converting her degree meant bureaucracy and delays. Coding courses felt slow and inaccessible. She knew she wanted a tech career, but didn’t want to spend years chasing it. She needed something faster, more flexible, and human.

The Transformation

“The program brought (...) a new way of seeing new possibilities in an easy way and also in an accessible way.”

Marielly joined Descodifica-te #1, a program by Fundação AGEAS and NoCode Institute, with no prior tech background. Here’s what changed:

✅ She discovered the power of no-code—and how quickly she could build real tools

✅ She learned to manage her time, trust her skills, and stay resilient

✅ She built actual projects, including an app for her sister’s meditation practice

✅ She even worked with NoCode Institute itself, helping redesign their application process

But the real gift? Community.

“The best moment was the contact with the community... There is a feeling that we are not alone and that we have all the access and support.”

What’s Next for Marielly?

She’s ready to step into the tech world—with the tools to make it happen. "I imagine myself in the near future working directly with the tools that I had the opportunity to learn in the program and I believe this is the future. It's just a matter of putting it into practice and getting in."

Project Highlight

In the final stage of the Cohorts, students have the opportunity to work in a real project to develop not only technical skills, but also soft skills like client management, problem-solving, prioritization, and negotiation. Always with the support of our Mentors.

For her final project, Marielly was challenged to create a digital solution for the NoCode Institute - yes, sometimes we also need extra help with our tools!

We asked Marielly to create a Candidate Selection Platform to help streamline how future students apply and get selected.

Mission accomplished, Marielly took this experience to learn new tools, enhance her skills, and gain confidence to build more complex projects.
